![]() ![]() The owner (Ulrich) is down on his luck, and decides to spice up the encounter by purchasing a haunted horror box (from an odd appearance by 80s star Sean Young). The story starts with a long and odd intro before we meet a crew of characters all attending an Escape Room. That is not to say it is bad, just very average. There is another Escape room which will be releasing in Nov 2017, almost similar but bigger budget. The director can make a prequel setting the picture in the 19th century. He managed to create a good blend of shocks, suspense, some brutal deaths n enough tension in a movie which is 80 minutes n set in a small room. As for the CCTV, u have to watch the movie. No neighbors or outsiders will be able to hear your scream once the action starts. The room has no phones, no wireless, and it is completely sound proof. A tight confined room compared to the open desert. After the opening credit, our film moves to Los Angeles, where four friends plan to take a trip to An escape room. But the director did a fine job, considering the budget he managed to tell u the story about the box n its evil thru the actions of the two desert fellas n some thru the opening credits. My DVD did not have the English subtitles n most of the Arabic conversation were a bouncer. The film opens in a middle eastern desert, creating the atmosphere n the dread when two fellas bury a box. Also Brice with a demon in him is still preferable to Brice without the demon, cos he was a garbage human anyway. 7) Brice clearly has a mental illness of some sort. 6) This box is one of the most cursed objects in the world (like the doll from Annabelle □) and yet they didn't even put a lock on it. ![]() ![]() 5) One of the women just said the words "I can't do puzzles, my brain doesn't work that way". 4) Somehow Brice got the box, drove it all the way to the escape room, put it in the room and sent guests in all without even opening it to see what was inside. That is the reason his business is failing, there's no need to take it out on his receptionist. 3) Brice wanted to amp up his escape room so rather than making more puzzles or changing the room he went to a furniture shop and bought a creepy looking box. The kind of selfish people that when they find a clue they literally put it in their pocket so nobody else can use them. 2) Every single character is loathsome, antagonizing and unsympathetic. If it wasn't for the killings they'd have been out in 10 minutes. 1) This award winning escape room is just an empty room with like 4 puzzles. I try not to be too harsh, especially with horror movies that can be just as good if you turn your brain off, but this was just too full of holes. From stunted writing, terrible characters and shortsighted plot points that just don't make sense. This movie had potential, but was just a mess from start to finish. ![]()
